What I have recently learned is that you can’t force yourself to de-stress. You simply can’t. But then again, you shouldn’t. Stress is a perfectly normal feeling that has its place in the world. It’s there for a reason. What it wants you to do is prioritize, optimize and alchemize!
In order to manifest who you are, you need to transform whatever doesn’t serve you. One of the ways to do this is to relax into stress and use it to your advantage. Stress, afterall, is just an indicator. A symptom. Suppressing it will only backfire. To make stress one of your assets, what you need to do is figure out why it’s there.
Once you gain the understanding that it has a purpose, you can let go of the desperate wish to get rid of it. And then you will realize something wonderful: it’s actually a great guide!
Whenever you’re stressed, try to go into yourself and find out what causes the discomfort in the first place. Stress is nothing more than resistance to something. And more importantly, it’s fear. So what are you resisting? What are you afraid of?
Only if we continually challenge ourselves and face our fears, we can transform ourselves on all levels. Take action on the things that cause discomfort and that you’ve been stressing out about, and then transform that stress into something awesome. Go do something that has been scaring the shit out of you – push your boundaries and go way out of your comfort zone. You won’t regret it.
Once you drop the labels of “good” and “bad” and just experience your life, you will literally dissolve stress, transforming resistance and fear into passion, creativity and drive. It will propel you through your challenges and make you grow from it.
This is what brings you a little bit closer to who you are and what makes you become more of the person that you want to be. Let go of what keeps you from expressing your true self. Let the stress be and let it guide you.
