First, let me start by briefly introducing myself: My name is Gabriela and I am a student of English and Spanish at the University of Salzburg, currently working towards my MA in ‘English and the creative industries’ as well as finishing my studies in teacher training.
The reason I came up with the idea for this blog is that I’ve been researching all kinds of eclectic knowledge over the past few years, and I finally wanted to create an outlet where I can share all of these things. I was thinking about narrowing it down to only one field, but honestly, I don’t think I can and I don’t think I should.
I have several general fields that I am interested in — from different areas of life: philosophy, language, literature, music, health, spirituality, my love for art and so forth — and they are all inter-connected and were part of my personal growth. They simply can’t be separated from one another in my opinion.
Maybe I am not THE expert on any of those and I don’t claim to be, but I do believe I have tons of knowledge and ideas to share. What I would like to create is something like a resource for all kinds of things that make life better and more enjoyable; something that helps people discover different approaches and gives them new insights – really a resource for eclectic knowledge paired with entertainment/ reading pleasure.
And I don’t believe that is possible, if I have to restrain myself – hold back things that I would love to say – for the sake of sticking to only one field. It would make me less authentic and less true-to-myself. I get EXCITED about things and ideas, and I want to share them – in fact, I’m itching to share them.
At the core of why I created this blog is the feeling I get when reading something that fundamentally changes my life for the better. And if it wasn’t for the work of some courageous people putting their truth and their ideas out there, I wouldn’t be the person that I am today. So now it’s my turn: I want to provide a helping hand and an inspiring resource for those that reach out and seek to improve themselves and their life. I want to pay it forward – but not because I feel like I have to or because I owe anything to anyone. I do it, because I love it! (Yes, that’s right. This really is my idea of fun.)
What drives me day in and day out is the greater vision I have for myself and others, combined with a passion to share and communicate. Call me idealistic; and maybe that’s exactly what I need to be.
I realize that many people won’t be interested in what I have to say; maybe my ramblings will not find a lot of readers. And that’s fine! As long as a HANDFUL of people can draw SOME value from what I have to say, I’m happy. My primary goal is not to try and please everyone, but to get myself out there, be genuine, be open, be honest and share all these thoughts and ideas that almost make my brain burst every single day.
Personally, I have a deep-rooted fascination for unconventional approaches – a soft spot in my heart for all free-thinkers, rebels and creatives. And something tells me there might be a few like-minded eclectics out there.
P.S. I hope I didn’t bore you to death with this really long introductory post. If you’ve made it all the way through – kudos to you!! And cheers to a (hopefully) interesting blogging journey!
